Low Voltage Cabling Design & Build Services

Great cabling doesn’t happen by accident. It starts with a plan — a thoughtful, building-specific design that maps out where every cable runs, how every pathway is organized, and how the entire infrastructure comes together to support your technology now and in the future. That’s what our low voltage cabling design and build service delivers: a complete, coordinated approach from blueprint to finished installation.
New Tech Cabling provides end-to-end low voltage cabling design and build services for commercial buildings of all sizes. Whether you’re working on a new construction project, a full-floor tenant improvement, or a technology refresh in an existing facility, we bring the planning expertise and installation precision that complex cabling projects require.

What's Included in Low Voltage Cabling Design & Build?

A design and build engagement is different from a standard cabling installation. Instead of receiving a design from another party and executing it, we own the entire scope — from requirements gathering and infrastructure design through installation, testing, and as-built documentation. One team, one point of accountability.

Technology Requirements Assessment

We learn your team size, technology stack, bandwidth requirements, growth plans, and any compliance or performance targets before designing anything — so the infrastructure we design reflects your real needs.

Structured Cabling Topology Design

Complete horizontal and backbone cabling design: outlet locations, cable pathways, telecom room layouts, distribution hierarchy, and cable types — developed to TIA-568 standards and documented for review before installation.

Telecom Room Design (TR/IDF/MDF)

Rack layout, cable management configuration, power distribution, and equipment specifications for every telecom room in the building — designed to support current loads and planned future expansion.

Full Installation Scope

Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic installation, patch panel termination, cable management, labeling, and certification — all executed by our certified technicians exactly to the approved design.

Multi-Trade Coordination Drawings

For new construction and major renovation projects, we produce coordination drawings showing low voltage pathway routing alongside electrical, mechanical, and architectural elements.

As-Built Documentation Package

Design drawings are updated throughout construction to reflect the final installed infrastructure — giving you a permanent, accurate record of every cable, pathway, and connection in the building.

Why Design and Build Is Better Than Design- Then-Build-With-Someone-Else

When the company that designs a cabling infrastructure hands off to a different company to install it, something almost always gets lost in translation. The installer finds a pathway that isn’t feasible and makes a substitution without updating the design. Outlet locations shift during construction and nobody updates the cable schedule. The telecom room layout gets changed on site to fit around an HVAC duct. None of these changes make it back to the documentation — and six months later, nobody can explain why the cabling doesn’t match the drawings. A low voltage cabling design and build engagement eliminates this problem entirely. Because the same team that designs the infrastructure also installs it, every field decision is made by people who understand the full design intent. When something changes — and on construction projects, things always change — the update happens immediately and the documentation stays accurate.
The result is an installed cabling infrastructure that matches the design, documentation that reflects reality, and a handoff where your IT team and facilities management actually know what’s in the building. For new construction, major tenant improvements, or any project where the cabling scope is complex enough to require real planning, a design and build approach from New Tech Cabling gives you the accuracy and accountability that a split-scope project simply can’t

Our Low Voltage Cabling Design & Build Process

A structured, documented process from first call to final handoff. No surprises, no shortcuts.

1

Discovery & Requirements

We learn your business, technology requirements, headcount and growth plans, compliance requirements, and project timeline — building the foundation for a design that’s right for your specific situation.

2

Site Assessment

For existing buildings, we conduct a full site walk to assess building dimensions, existing infrastructure, telecom room locations, and pathway constraints. For new construction, we review architectural and MEP drawings.

3

Cabling Infrastructure Design

We develop the complete low voltage design: cable topology, pathway routing, TR layouts, outlet schedules, and equipment specifications. For new construction, coordination drawings are produced for the GC project team.

4

Design Review & Approval

We walk you through the design before any cable is pulled. Adjustments are made at the design stage — not mid-installation when changes are disruptive and expensive.

5

Installation

Certified technicians execute the build exactly as designed — every cable run, termination, and pathway installed to plan with the same detail-oriented approach we bring to every project.

6

Testing, Certification & As-Builts

Every run tested and certified. As-built drawings and documentation updated to reflect the final installation — so the documentation you receive matches what’s actually in the building.

Why Choose New Tech Cabling for Low Voltage Cabling Design & Build?

structured cabling design

✓
Single Point of Accountability: One team owns design and installation. No gaps between what was planned and what was built. No finger-pointing between trades.

✓
Commercial Design Experience: We’ve designed and built cabling infrastructure for offices, healthcare facilities, corporate headquarters, and multi-tenant commercial buildings.
.

✓
Designed to Scale: We design for your next five years — not just your current headcount. Adds, moves, and changes will be straightforward, not a project.

✓
GC-Ready Coordination: We participate in pre-construction coordination meetings, provide coordination drawings, and deliver submittals compatible with your project team’s process.

✓
Documentation From Day One: Design documents become as-built records — updated throughout construction to reflect the final installed infrastructure.

✓
Engage Us Early: Pre-construction involvement lets us influence pathway sizing, conduit rough-in, and TR locations — changes that are far more expensive after the walls are up

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between design and build versus a standard cabling installation?
In a standard installation, the cabling design is provided by your IT team, consultant, or general contractor and we execute it. In a design and build engagement, we own both — we develop the design based on your requirements and build it, with one team accountable for the accuracy and quality of the complete result.
Do you produce drawings and specifications?
Yes. Our low voltage cabling design and build service includes cable schedules, pathway diagrams, telecom room layouts, and — for new construction — multi-trade coordination drawings. The level of documentation is scoped to the complexity of the project.
Can you coordinate with our general contractor or architect?
Yes. We’re experienced working in multi-trade construction environments and regularly participate in project coordination meetings, respond to RFIs, and provide submittals as required by the project team.
How early in a new construction project should we engage you?
As early as possible — ideally during design or pre-construction. Early involvement lets us influence conduit rough-in sizing, telecom room location and dimensions, and pathway routing decisions that are expensive to change after construction begins.
Do you offer design-only services without installation?
Our primary service model is integrated design and build. For projects where design-only consulting is needed, contact us to discuss the scope — we’re happy to have that conversation.
